Studio per una scultura fatta di segno (series)

2024, 34×42 cm, Digital print on paper Hahnemühle Photo Rag and PLA filament sculpture

This work, as its title suggests, originated as a study for the creation of sculptural subjects derived from graphic and photographic images.
It consists of a series of explorations on bodily forms, the plasticity of the figure, and structural lines.
These images were not conceived as photographic works in themselves, but rather as useful tools for their later sculptural translation, through the drawn sign in PLA made with a 3D pen.
They are photographs that, even before being such, are already sculptures, and that in their manifestation contain both possibilities.
It is an investigation into the relationship between sculpture and photography through drawing, which, by means of the contouring action, recalls the photographic isolations of sculptural works captured by the Alinari Brothers.

Invisible thus reveals the sculptural presence within the photograph, which is in turn translated into sculpture through an impossible design that binds the two inseparably.
